RE:                   Amendment to SD 85-18 (Academic Regulations and Procedures)

 

DISPOSITION:            To the presiding officer for implementation

 

 

WHEREAS, Senate Document SD 85‑18 (Section 5.2) defines what is permissible during the Final Week of each semester or session; and

 

WHEREAS, section 5.2 does not take into account changes in the delivery of classroom instruction and the administration of examinations due to technological and pedagogical innovation,

 

WHEREAS, the faculty and students need uniform regulations that take into account these changes;

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That the Senate approve the following changes to Senate Document SD 85‑18, (Section 5.2) (new language in bold)

 

 

5.0        FINAL EXAMINATIONS AND INSTRUCTORS' GRADE REPORTS

 

5.2        Final week.  With the exception of those courses classified as individual instruction, clinic, studio, practice teaching, or research, or distance courses and those offered for zero credits, each class is expected to will meet for a two-hour session during the last week of each fall or spring semester.  The two-hour session is to may be used for (1) a final examination, (2) a last, non-comprehensive examination, or (3) submission of out-of-class examination or assignments or (3 4) a regular class meeting.
