SUBJ:              Metrics for Intercollegiate Athletics

 

DISPOSITION:  To the Presiding Officer for implementation

 

 

Whereas, the University Resources Policy Committee was charged by the Fort Wayne Senate with developing metrics for the intercollegiate athletics program; and,

 

Whereas, at its March 17, 2004 meeting the University Resources Policy Committee adopted metrics and a proposed reported procedure;

 

Be It Resolved, that the chancellor make an annual report to the Fort Wayne Senate in the fall semester of each academic year on intercollegiate athletics that will encompass, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

 

            1)    Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) and other data in support of the attached metrics developed by URPC

            2)    A review of the findings contained in the athletics annual outside audit report

            3)    When available the NCAA athletics certification report (prepared once every ten years).

 

Be It Further Resolved, that the chancellor is requested to make the reports available to any members of the Fort Wayne Senate who request a copy following his presentation.

Metrics

 

 

 1.

Percent and dollar amount of athletic scholarships funded from IPFW administered scholarship funds.

 2.

Percent and dollar amount of athletic scholarships funded from the Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship fund.

 3.

Fees per credit hour used in support of intercollegiate athletics.

 4.

Percent of total athletic budget funded by student fees.

 5.

Total dollar amount of costs of coaching staff and support personnel allocated to the general fund.

 6.

Surplus or deficit in annual athletic budget as shown on the EADA report.

 7.

Number of “major infractions” assessed by the NCAA in the past ten years.

 8.

Win/Loss records in the various sports offered.

 9.

Graduation Rates for the 6-year cohort period for student-athletes, with a comparison to the institution’s graduation rate.

10.

Student-Athlete GPA for the most recent fall and spring semesters.

11.

Attendance at athletic events.

12.

Gate receipts.

13.

EADA comparable institution data, including gender equity measures.
