SUBJECT: Proposed Amendments to SD 89-28 (IPFW Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct)

DATE: October 21, 2002

DISPOSITION: To the Presiding Officer for implementation

Whereas, there has been confusion on the part of faculty, staff, and students about who has authority and responsibility to investigate, mediate, and recommend resolutions to student complaints concerning actions or decisions claimed to violate established rights before a student may request a hearing before the Campus Appeals Boards, and

Whereas, procedures for Campus Appeals Board hearings of appeals concerning recognition of student organizations, appeals from Student Judicial Court, and rights violations complaints are not currently specified in the Student Code, and

Whereas, certain terminology in the Code needs to be updated or made specific,

Be It Resolved, that the Fort Wayne Senate approve the proposed amendments to the IPFW Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct by adding the text in boldface and deleting the text in strikeout in the following document.
