SUBJECT:      Closing the temporary lot 6 and restoring it as green area

                        Substitute motion to SD 02-4

 

DATE:            October 28, 2002

 

DISPOSITION: To the Presiding Officer for implementation

 

Whereas, there is very little support from the faculty of IPFW to pave and expand the temporary parking Lot 6; and

 

               Whereas, there is mixed support from students of IPFW to pave and expand the temporary parking Lot 6; and

 

Whereas, it is the interest of both students and faculty to have a beautiful campus, including a clean river with an attractive bank; and

 

Whereas, it is in the interest of the public of the city of Fort Wayne, Allen County, and northeast Indiana to have a clean, healthy river; and

 

Whereas, it is the role of the regional public university to lead the way in providing stewardship for the care of the rivers in northeastern Indiana; and

 

Whereas, the Fort Wayne Senate was told by the administration that the temporary parking Lot 6 is not safe in this form; and

 

Whereas, the Fort Wayne Senate was told by the administration that the maintenance of the temporary parking Lot 6 is expensive; and

 

Be It Resolved, to recommend to the administration to close the temporary parking Lot 6, and to restore it as green area; and

 

Be It Resolved, that the wording of this substitute motion shall be: “The Senate recommends to the administration to close parking Lot 6 and restore it as green area, and to find other alternative options to solve the parking problem.”
