Whereas, the Budgetary Affairs Subcommittee has documented and widely disseminated the fact that IPFW is severely underfunded relative to most other state institutions of higher education; and

Whereas, this underfunding has been widely recognized and the proposed solution to this problem has been called equity funding for IPFW; and

Whereas, faculty have a major interest that the equity funding problem be addressed; and

Whereas, Ken Burns, Executive Vice President and Treasurer for Purdue University, and Terry Strueh, Assistant Vice President for State Relations, in a meeting with the Budgetary Affairs Subcommittee on September 25, 1998, both encouraged and challenged the IPFW faculty to lobby state legislators for additional funding for IPFW; and

Whereas, the Budgetary Affairs Subcommittee is the Senate subcommittee charged with handling budget issues,

Be it resolved:

1. The Budgetary Affairs Subcommittee is hereby authorized by the Fort Wayne Senate to lobby all relevant parties for funding for IPFW until funding equity is achieved.

2. The chair of the Budgetary Affairs Subcommittee shall have speaking privileges at Senate meetings to address budget issues.
