MEMORANDUM

TO:                  Agenda Committee

FROM:            Joseph P. Giusti

DATE:            September 2, 1981

SUBJECT:      Mission Statement Task Force

I am writing to request that the Senate elect four faculty members (no two from the same major academic unit) to serve on a mission statement task force.  This task force will be charged to review IPFW’s present mission statement (see “The goals and objectives” section on page 1 of the 1981-82 Bulletin) and recommend possible changes to me.  It is important that the mission statement be reviewed and updated periodically because it is the standard against which the university is measured by those who are a part of the university as well as by the community and accrediting agencies.  The other members of the task force will be a student, an administrator, and the University Editor as a staff resource person.  The administrator will call the first meeting and conduct the election of a chairman.
