Registration Error Messages

Admission to Co-op Program

  • Definition
    • This section is sponsored by Cooperative Education. You must receive their permission before registering for the section.
  • Solution
    • You may request a Department Permission Override from Cooperative Education (NF 337).

Class Restriction

  • Definition
    • This course is restricted to specific students on the number of earned hours as of the last semester completed (ex. freshman, sophomore, junior, senior).
  • Solution
    • Select a different course.
    • You may request a Classification Override through the instructor or the department offering the course. However, the instructor or the department may say no.

Closed Section

  • Definition
    • This section is full - No seats available.
  • Solution
    • Select a different section.
    • You may request a Closed Class Override through the instructor or department offering the course. However, the instructor or the department may say no. Under no circumstances can the number of students in a classroom exceed fire code regulations.

Closed Section-X

  • Definition
    • This section is cross-listed with another section and both sections meet in the same room. That room is now FULL.
  • Solution
    • Select a different section.
    • You may request a Closed Class Override through the instructor or department offering the course. However, the instructor or the department may say no. Under no circumstances can the number of students in a classroom exceed fire code regulations.

CORQ_Course ##### REQ or CORQ_Course REQ

  • Definition
    • One or more separate sections are required to be taken at the same time. These are called co-requisites. (See comments in the Printed Schedule of Classes, or the online Schedule of Classes.)
  • Solution
    • Register for both sections by submitting the CRNs for both sections at the same time.

Course is Not Available at this Time

  • Definition
    • The section has been canceled. The department is no longer offering this specific section.
  • Solution
    • Select a different section.

Duplicate CRN or DUPL CRSE with Sec-#####

  • Definition
    • The section or course already exists on your schedule.
  • Solution
    • If you are attempting to re-register for a section you already dropped, you will need to seek assistance from your academic advisor, or the Registrar's Office.
    • If you wish to take different sections of the same course that has different titles, you may request a Duplicate Course Override through the department offering the course, or your academic advisor.

English as Second Language Section

  • Definition
    • This section is restricted to students learning English as a new language.
  • Solution
    • For ENG W115, ENG 116, ENG W130 or ENG W131, you may request a Department Permission Override through the Department of English and Linguistics (Classroom Medical Room 145).
    • For ENG R150, you may request a Department Permission Override through the Center for Academic Support and Advancement-CASA (Kettler Hall Room G23).

Freshman Learning Approval

  • Definition
    • This is a Freshman Learning Community section sponsored by the "First Year Experience" (FYE) Program. You must also register for other course sections which are grouped with this class. You must receive permission before registering for the section.
  • Solution
    • Select a different section of the same course.
    • Contact your advisor and request permission to register for the community. Register for all sections of the Freshman Learning Community by submitting the CRNs for all sections at the same time.

Instuctor and Dept Permission

  • Definition
    • This section requires permission from the instructor and the department before registration is allowed.
  • Solution
    • You may request an Instructor Permission Override through the the instructor and the department offering the course.

Level Restriction

  • Definition
    • This course is restricted to a specific level (Graduate or Undergraduate).
  • Solution
    • Undergraduate students wishing to enroll in graduate courses, or graduate students wishing to enroll in undergraduate courses can request a Level Restriction Override from the department offering the course. NOTE: Tuition charges are assessed by the level of the student, not the level of the course.

Link Error ## Required

  • Definition
    • This course requires simultaneous registration in a lecture and laboratory/clinical section. You have tried to register for one instructional type without the other instructional type(s). (See comments in the Printed Schedule of Classes, or the online Schedule of Classes.)
  • Solution
    • Undergraduate students wishing to enroll in graduate courses, or graduate students wishing to enroll in undergraduate courses can request a Level Restriction Override from the department offering the course. NOTE: Tuition charges are assessed by the level of the student, not the level of the course.

Major Restriction

  • Definition
    • This course is restricted to specific majors.
  • Solution
    • You may request a Major Restriction Override through the department offering the course.

Maximum Hours Exceeded

  • Definition
    • Registration exceeds the maximum number of hours permitted for the student.
  • Solution
    • You are not allowed to register for more than 24 credits in a fall or spring semester, or more than 15 credits in the summer semester (all summer sessions combined). Choose a combination of classes that does not exceed these maximum hours.

Permission From Continuing Ed

  • Definition
    • This section is sponsored by the Continuing Education. You must receive their permission before registering for the section.
  • Solution
    • You may request a Department Permission Override through the Division of Continuing Studies (Kettler Hall Room 145).

Permission From Department

  • Definition
    • This section requires permission from the department before registration is allowed.
  • Solution
    • You may request a Department Permission Override through the the department offering the course.

Permission From Instructor

  • Definition
    • This section requires permission from the instructor before registration is allowed.
  • Solution
    • You may request a Instructor Permission Override through the instructor, or the department offering the course.

Pre-Req and/or Test Error

  • Definition
    • This section requires a pre-requisite, or a specific test score. (See course description in the University Bulletin.)
  • Solution
    • Pre-requisite and/or the specific test score must be completed before you are allowed to register.
    • You may request a Pre-Requisite Override through the department offering the course.
    • If you believe that you have already satisfied the pre-requisite from course completed at another college/university, you should contact your academic advisor who will verify this, and provide you with a Pre-Requisite Override.

Registration Changes are Not Allowed. Course Status Dates Not Within Range for Part of Term

  • Definition
    • Online registration activity is no longer available at this time. It is too late to register online for this section.
  • Solution
    • It is possible to add a course late but this requires a completed Drop/Add form including instructor and advisor's signature. Completed Drop/Add forms should be brought to the Registrar's Office (Kettler Hall Room 107) for processing.

Repeat Limit Exceeded

  • Definition
    • Student has enrolled in the course more than the allowed number of times. This message will occur regardless of whether the student has ever completed the course.
  • Solution
    • A REPEAT LIMIT EXCEEDED error is only a warning and should not stop you from registering for the course. If needed, a Repeat Limit Override may be requested through your academic advisor.

Time Conflict with #####

  • Definition
    • The section is conflicting with another section already on the student's schedule.
  • Solution
    • Select a different section that meets at a different time.
    • Student may request a Time Conflict Override through the instructor or department offering the course.
