Mission Statement

Political science includes basic issues in governance; political structures, processes and controls; social conditions; and intergovernmental relations. This program helps you prepare to be an informed citizen or public servant, to succeed in a wide variety of careers, or to engage in further study of government, politics or law.

In addition to the Bachelor of Arts and the minor in political science, the department offers specialized advising for prelaw students and teacher preparation in the area of social studies. An Associate of Arts with a concentration in political science is described in the School of Arts and Sciences section of Part 3 of the undergraduate bulletin of classes.
