Department of Political Science
Welcome
Message from the Chair:
Welcome to the Department of Political Science web page! We hope that you find the material contained here helpful. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me or any other of the faculty members.
Departmental courses are as rewarding as they are demanding and will certainly enhance your understanding of the world in which we live. Not only is political science the oldest of the social sciences, there is perhaps no other major whose subject matter necessarily exposes students to the diversity of the ways in which people think and act.
Students will find that the department has an excellent record of preparing students for careers. Political science graduates have gone on to succeed in a wide variety of professions. Perhaps the most popular choice has been to attend law school. Our graduates have an excellent record of being admitted to law school. Of the many graduates who have chosen law as a profession, more than twenty-five are currently practicing in the region. Other graduates have pursued advanced degrees in political science, as well as other disciplines. Our graduates have found that the program of study has prepared them well for careers in government service, teaching, journalism, business, work with political parties, and for life itself. Many of our majors have chosen to take internships and practicum's where students gain valuable experience to supplement their formal coursework.
The department welcomes the opportunity to help you to prepare for the future and to further your education.
