Bio:
Professor John M Robinson obtained his B.S. in Physics from Louisiana State University in 1967 and his M.S. and Ph.D at Florida State University in 1970 and 1972, respectively. He came to the IPFW Department of Physics in 1973, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1978, and has served continuously as Department Chair since 1979. Through the years his research area has evolved from electrical and magnetic properties of actinide and rare earth solids to physics of theropod locomotion to methods of dealing with systems of enormous inertia. He has taught a wide range of courses from Concepts in Physics to Quantum Mechanics. In 1991 he introduced a new course, “Physics of Sports” which became (and remains) very popular and which presaged our later General Education program.
