Department of Physics

The IPFW Department of Physics features outstanding baccalaureate programs in Physics and Physics Teaching. We are especially proud that our majors have the unique opportunity of working with our faculty in research projects, some of which have led to publications co-authored by students and faculty. This research is well supported by external grants from agencies such as the National Science Foundation and Research Corporation as well as by area industry.

Despite our small size, a variety of research areas are available, including laser and atomic physics, computational physics, and physics education. Our graduates have an excellent record of securing either employment or admission to graduate school upon matriculation. We have also recently extensively updated our curricula for both our own majors as well as for our general education program. Our goal is to be the most outstanding small Department of Physics in the Midwest.
