Cooperative Education

Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Cooperative Education program provides students with employment opportunities while pursuing a degree. The focus of the program is to offer job experiences that utilize the skills and knowledge students are learning in the classroom. This is a well monitored program.

  1. Each student employed through co-op reports to a supervisor at their work site.
  2. The faculty advisor from the student’s major department and a co-op representative visit the student and supervisor at the work site during the fall and spring semesters.

Students majoring in Organizational Leadership and Supervision (OLS) have been active in this program for several years. OLS students have worked in a variety of functions:

  • Human Resources
  • Purchasing
  • Line Supervision
  • Training
  • Transportation Management
  • Quality

These positions have been in different types of organizations including manufacturing, financial/insurance, service and transportation. Currently seven OLS students are employed through the Cooperative Education program in companies through out Northeast Indiana.
