All incoming students who need to fulfill a foreign language requirement for their major, and who have completed 2 years of a foreign language in high school must complete a placement test prior to registering for any classes.
Cell phones will not be allowed at the testing stations. Please make the appropriate arrangements for storing cell phones.
Important: A photo ID is required in order to test.
Foreign language placement exams are administered in the areas of French, German, and Spanish. The exams consist of an adaptive reading comprehension component. The test results are available upon completion of the test. The Foreign Language placement test may be retaken once. Foreign language course information can be obtained by contacting the Department of International Language and Culture Studies at 260-481-6836.
Foreign language placement exams must be scheduled by calling 260-481-6600. Foreign language placement tests are given during the following days and times:
Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Saturday 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Please note: The times listed above are Eastern Standard Time and are subject to change. The testing room temperatures may vary. It is advisable to bring a sweater or jacket.
Students should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment. Students arriving late will be asked to reschedule their testing appointment.
Students requiring test accommodations based on disability must contact the Director of Testing Services at least seven (7) days before the scheduled test date. Disability documentation may be required.
Childcare arrangements must be made prior to the day and time of the exam. We are sorry, but children are not allowed in the testing facilities.
