English as a Second Language Testing

Cell phones are not allowed at the testing stations. Please make the appropriate arrangements for storing cell phones.

All students whose native language is not English must write an English placement essay to determine which writing and/or reading classes they will need. The ESL essay exam is taken only after admission to IPFW.

Important: A photo ID is required in order to test.

Tests must be scheduled by calling 260-481-6600.  ESL tests are given during the following days and times:

Monday-Thursday     8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.

Friday                        8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Saturday                    8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Note:  The times listed above are Eastern Standard Time and are subject to change. 

Students should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment.

Students arriving late will be asked to reschedule their testing appointment.

Students requiring test accommodations based on disability should contact the Director of Testing Services at least seven (7) days before the scheduled test date. Disability documentation may be required.

The testing room temperatures may vary.  It is advisable to bring a sweater or jacket.

Childcare arrangements must be made prior to the day and time of the exam. We are sorry, but children are not allowed in the testing facilities.
