 Graduate Student Conference Travel Grant


To support IPFW graduate students traveling to present their research, scholarship, or creative activity at a domestic or international conference. This program defines domestic conferences as those of national scope; regional, state or local conferences will not be considered.


  • Only IPFW graduate students are eligible to apply.
  • Only one application per fiscal year per student.
  • A graduate student may not receive more than two awards.


Subject to availability, funding may be awarded up to $1,000 toward eligible travel expenses: conference registration, airfare, hotel, mileage, automotive rental, ground transportation.

Funds are to be paid on a reimbursement basis after proof of travel is produced.

Travel must comply with IPFW Travel Regulations.

Application Guidelines

Applications  must be submitted at a minimum of 60 days prior to the proposed travel.  The Institute will consider requests for immediate travel on a case-by-case basis, if travel has not already taken place; please email Dr. Kracher at prior to application.

Applicants must submit the following information in one PDF document in the order listed below:

    • Description of your research presentation
    • How this award will facilitate the larger scope of your research
    • Previous external and internal financial support in the last three years
    • Description and URL links to the conference proceedings ; include any financial support from your       department and/or college/school for your conference
    • Estimated cost of eligible travel expenses; registration, airfare, hotel, mileage, auto rental, ground transportation; including any financial support from your department and/or college/school for your conference
    • Brief CV (no more than 3 pages)
    • Documentation from the conference organization that you have been accepted to present on your research.
    • The Graduate Student Faculty Mentor or Department Chair’s letter of support, addressing the importance of the graduate student’s presentation at the conference

Submit request to Please use the following naming convention: GradConfTravel_lastname.pdf. Requests are considered as received; notification within 60 days or less of application receipt.


Upon return, the graduate student must provide proof of travel within 60 days to be reimbursed. Reimbursement will not occur if the appropriate proof of travel (paid receipts) is not submitted within 60 days.
