New Student Orientation (NSO)

Advising & Registration

 If you have paid your deposit or replied to your offer of Admission, you will be assigned an Advising & Registration Day. Please check your personal email for your confirmation.

Advising & Registration is a half-day process where you come to campus to learn more about how you can be successful, you meet your Orientation Leader which will most likely be in your intended major, meet people in your academic college such as your advisor, and ultimately- you leave campus with your fall schedule.

Our Advising & Registration Dates range from April-August.

What should I know about my Advising & Registration Day?
  • You can bring up to two family members or guests with you.
  • You can complete business items such as talking to Financial Aid, visiting Services for Students with Disabilities, you can visit Student Housing and more once your session is complete.
  • You will meet other incoming students in your intended major.

Do I need to do anything before my Advising & Registration Day?
  • You need to make sure your myIPFW account is active. Please be sure to have your username and password handy as you will need this to register for classes.
  • You will need to have taken your placement tests prior to attending. 
    • Your Writing Guided Self-Placement Test is taken online. I can be found by logging into your myIPFW account and clicking on the "Enrollment" tab.
    • Schedule your Math Placement Test, this is taken on campus. To schedule, call: (260) 481-6600.
      • If you are anticipating Dual or AP credit for math, you may not need to take the placement test. Contact Testing Services to determine requirements).
    • If your major requires a foreign language, schedule your Foreign Language Placement Test. To schedule, call: (260) 481-6600.

Do I need to bring anything for my Advising & Registration Day?
  • Bring your myIPFW username/password
  • Bring a government-issued photo ID, you will be taking your Mastodon Card ID photo
