Beginning in November 2011, the wireless network across campus will be upgraded to a newer standard, improving reliability, speed and security. If you use wireless, especially in multiple buildings, you need to know these changes.
Wireless configuration steps are the same, but the name of the hotspot will be different depending on whether you are connecting to the old wireless (IPFW) or the new (IPFW-WRLS). You will need to have your device configured for both IPFW and IPFW-WRLS access as you access wireless from different locations on campus. Once all upgrades are complete, configurations for the old IPFW hotspots can be deleted.
Upgrades have already been completed in Liberal Arts, Support Services, and Student Housing.
Visit the IT Services Knowledge Base where configuration instructions for the IPFW-WRLS network, answers to frequently asked questions, and a listing of buildings in order that they will be upgraded are all available.
