If the file or files you want restored currently exist in the original directories as incorrect or corrupted versions (as opposed to missing files deleted by mistake), they must be removed or renamed before the restoration can be done. You can do this by either deleting the file, moving the file to a different directory or by renaming the file.
For example, "p:\biol\reports\summer 2005.doc" or "o:\vpa\schedule\faculty.xls".
All updated files are backed up daily. The weekly/monthly backups include all files. If you need the most current version of the file and it was updated yesterday you would want that tape to be used. If the file is rarely updated, you may want to use the most recent full weekly or monthly backup tape.
