Transfer Students from Outside of the US

TRANSFER APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

STUDENTS TRANSFERRING FROM COLLEGES OR UNIVERSITIES OUTSIDE OF THE US:

  • Any international applicant who has been enrolled in a higher education institution (within or outside the U.S.) and has earned university credits (successfully completed courses or subjects) should apply for admission as a transfer international student.

Requirements:

Completed Common Application

Proof of English proficiency:

  • Required for transfer students whose native language is other than English and who have not completed a college-level English composition course (not ESL courses) with a grade of “C” or above. Official score reports from one of the following tests must be submitted directly to IPFW from the testing agency:
  • TOEFL (IPFW School Code: 1336): Minimum score: 79
  • IELTS: Minimum score: Minimum 6.5 Overall Band Score (scanned copy of score report is acceptable)
  • SAT (IPFW School Code: 1336): Minimum score: 25 Reading
  • SAT, prior to 05/2016 (IPFW School Code: 1336): Minimum score: 450 Critical Reading
  • ACT (IPFW School Code: 1217): Minimum score: 20
  • A Level First Language English: Minimum grade “C” or above
  • PTE Academic: Minimum score: 58
  • ELS Language Center: Completion of level 112
  • Students attending US High Schools: English proficiency testing requirement may be waived if the last two years of regular (not ESL) HS English have been completed with grades of “C” or above.

Transcripts:

  • Transcripts from College or University may be uploaded through the Common App

Transcript Evaluation Report:



  • Required if student has completed any courses outside of the US

Type of transcript evaluation needed for courses completed outside of the US:

Transfers with less than 30 transferable university-level credits:

  • High School and University Level Course by Course Report

Transfers with more than 30 transferable credits, not counting remedial or ESL courses:

  • University Level Course-by-Course Report

GPA Requirement:



  • 2.50/4.00 cumulative GPA from all secondary schools attended

Transfer of College/University Credit:





  • Course descriptions are not required for classes completed at a US college or university. Transfer credit evaluations will be completed after student has been admitted and has confirmed enrollment at IPFW.
  • Detailed course descriptions in English are required for transfer of credit from any college or university outside of the US. Transfer credit evaluations will be completed after student has been admitted and has confirmed enrollment at IPFW.

Letters of Recommendation:




  • Not required. May be uploaded through the Common App, if desired.

Test Scores (SAT, ACT, etc.):




  • Not required for admission.

Statement of Purpose:




  • Not required. May be uploaded through the Common App, if desired.

Scholarship:



Requirements (any of the following minimum test scores):

  • SAT: 1800 (old SAT)
  • SAT: 1290 (new SAT)
  • ACT score: 27
  • TOEFL: 87
  • IELTS: 7.0

AND

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Scholarship Renewal: Up to 3 years. Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress while enrolled
