Indiana Driver's License

If you have an international driver's license, you can drive in the state of Indiana for up to one year without restriction.  However, you must apply for an Indiana Driver License in order to be able to continue to drive a car legally in the State of Indiana. Before you can receive an Indiana license you must pass both a written test and a driving test.  Below are the steps required to receive your Indiana Driver's License. For more complete information visit the Indiana BMV website. 

1. Study for the written test which covers information on vehicle operation, street signs, and traffic laws.  Be sure to review the Indiana Driver's Manual to study for the written test.

2. Go to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and pass the written exam. The three nearest BMV branches to ipfw Campus are:

3. Schedule your driver's test and practice driving. The state of Indiana offers Driver Education courses to help you prepare for driving a motorvehicle. 

4. Pass your driving test and you will obtain your license.
