21st Century Scholars Program

Who receives 21st Century Scholarship?


The 21st Century Scholarship is awarded to students that are residents of Indiana.

Recipient Requirements:

  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Enrolled in the 21st Century Scholars Program in the student 7th or 8th grade. year, and reaffirmed your pledge in your senior year of high school.
  • Must be an Indiana Resident.
  • Enroll in an Indiana college or university within a year of graduating from high school.
  • Must be enrolled full-time by the end of the fourth week of classes, does not include wait-listed classes.
  • Working towards your first undergraduate degree.
  • Maintain federal requirements for Academic Progress.
  • Four year life time limit for the award.

Starting in Fall 2013, all incoming students must meet the following criteria:

  • At the end of the student's first year, you must have at least 30 completed cumulative credit hours.
  • At the end of the student's second year, you must have at least 60 completed cumulative credit hours
  • At the end of the student's third year, you must have at least 90 completed cumulative credit hours

How much is a 21st Century Scholarship?

This scholarship covers the full cost of tuition at IPFW for a maximum of 30 credit hours per year. 

The amount for 2014-2015 would be 264.95 X 30 = 7948.

If you choose to take online classes the difference in tuition would not be covered by the scholarship.

How to Apply for a 21st Century Scholarship?

In order to be eligible for the award each year, the student must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid by March 10th and submit corrections by no later than May 15. 

2014-2015 - March 10, 2014 and May 15, 2014

2015-2016 - March 10, 2015 and May 15, 2015

21st Century for Summer

The Scholarship covers a maximum of 30 credit hours per Academic Year.  This means that a student would only be given the difference that was not used during the fall/spring semesters.  An example would be if a student took 12 credit hours in the fall and 12 credit hours in the spring then, there would be 6 credit hours to be used for summer.

Transfer Students

Transfer students must meet all requirements above and not used their allotted 30 credit hours for the Academic Year at another institution.

Eligibility Requirements

This award is available for four years, as long as the following requirements are met.

Students must complete their FAFSA by the Indiana State Deadline of March 10th and make any corrections by May 15th of every year in order to be eligible for state aid.  They must also complete an accumulative of 30 credit hours per year to continue their eligibility for the next year.

  • At the end of the student's first year, you must have at least 30 completed cumulative credit hours.
  • At the end of the student's second year, you must have at least 60 completed cumulative credit hours
  • At the end of the student's third year, you must have at least 90 completed cumulative credit hours

Indiana FAFSA Deadline is March 10th and any corrections must be made by May 15th of each year for the next Academic Year.

  • 2015-2016 Academic Year: March 10, 2015 and May 15, 2015
  • 2016-2017 Academic Year: March 10, 2016 and May 15, 2016
