Financial Aid

Verification Process

Verification Process

The federal and state government randomly select at least 1/3 of all college students.  However, one can also select themselves, to verify that the information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the same as reported to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The Verification process is different for Dependent and Independent students. Typically, a Dependent student will answer "No" to the following questions:

  1. Are you 24 years or older?
  2. Are you married?
  3. Do you have any children (include any child that you take care of at least 50%)?
  4. Are you a veteran?
