About the Scholars

Kevin Villela

Kevin is a Computer Science and Mathematics dual major. He plays on the IPFW men's volleyball team. He has also been a part of a startup company at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center called Sly Programming, a mobile-app development company. The opportunity arose from being awarded the Philo T. Farnsworth Award for innovation for his work with the Kinect system in gesture recognition. For the start-up, he developed a mobile application for IPFW called IPFW Events which displays all the events going on around campus on a smart-phone or tablet calendar. He is also currently working on a senior project for the Chapman Scholars program, for which he will design a website and database for Sharehouse, a local nonprofit supplier for other nonprofits. These will make it easier for Sharehouse to track orders and inventory, which will save them valuable time.
