“You, Too, Can Have Brighter and Harder Working Students: Increasing Achievement and Retention by Applying Key Lessons from the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning” is the topic of the 2014 COAS Symposium on Teaching and Learning’s keynote address by Dr. Craig Nelson, Indiana University Professor Emeritus of Biology. CELT is pleased to offer you the opportunity to learn more about this topic by joining any of five monthly Applying Lessons from SoTL reading groups. The groups will meet in January, February, and March. Each month participants will read a different article by Craig Nelson, listed below.
January - 10 Dysfunctional Illusions of Rigor
February - Want Brighter, Harder Working Students? Change Pedagogies!
March - Student Diversity Requires Different Approaches to College Teaching, Even in Math and Science
Groups will discuss the articles and ways in which its ideas could be applied to teaching. Registration is required and is open to all faculty and staff. You must register for the day and time of each group meeting that you plan to attend in order to receive a copy of the article. All articles will be emailed.
