Graduate Intern

As a Graduate Intern, Rachel is responsible for the following:

  • Teach a 2-credit Career Planning course, EDUC X210
  • Present to classrooms on various topics for Career Services
  • Trained in Career Counseling theory and practice
  • Participate in the development of technology tools to make the career journey experience for students and alumni user friendly, effective, and efficient
  • Assist Career Services in gathering data, data analysis, and using the data to make informed decisions
  • Observe and conduct one-to-one career counseling appointments with students and community members
  • Develop and organize on-line and print resource materials
  • Plan and conduct outreach programs (groups, workshops, career fairs)
  • Cover the drop-in career counseling hours and other special projects assigned
  • Supervise our Fall Break Extern

Rachel joined Career Services in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Spanish from Purdue University, Fort Wayne, and is currently in the Master of Science in Counselor Education program at Indiana University, Fort Wayne. Prior to working in Career Services, Rachel worked as an activities assistant for a local assisted living community in their memory care unit. She was awarded the Student Leader of the Year at IPFW for 2007-2008 and was selected to appear in an IPFW television commercial in 2007. Rachel has also worked for IPFW in the past as an Orientation Assistant in 2006 and Orientation Leader in 2007 for the SOAR team as they planned, organized, and implemented freshman fest.
