Why did you choose IPFW?
When it came time to look at colleges my Senior year of highschool, it quickly realized that IPFW was just a natural fit for me, as it allowed me to stay close to home, while still pursuing an education from a local well respected university.

Were you involved in any student organizations?
I attended meetings for SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) but due to work constraints I never formally joined.

Did a staff or faculty member act as a mentor for you during your education?
Yes! Do I have to name just one? The one who stands out the most was my academic advisor, Dave Clevenger......that saying of "they broke the mould when they made him" definitely holds true. Truthfully speaking if not for Dave, I may not have graduated.

What is your greatest memory of your time in school?
Going to the 3rd Floor of Helmke to study....seriously! The nostalgia and even the smell of the 3rd floor, because of all the old books is memory that I hold dear.

Do you have a favorite and/or funny story about your time at IPFW?
So many laugh worthy moments happened while I was at IPFW, probably the most memorable is when I had to work in group projects for my OLS degree, we would have to come up with comedic skits and act them out in front of our entire class.....talk about embarrassing at times.

What career accolades have you received?
I have been recognized but not formally awarded for volunteering on behalf of Parkview

Do you volunteer in the community?
Yes, I enjoy volunteer at fairs in my community, as well as events that support the initiatives of Parkview Health.

What course(s) have you found to be most valuable in your professional life?
My core OLS classes, have really helped my professionally. The knowledge I gained in my courses can be applied so practically in the workplace.

How did you become interested in your field?
I worked in a retail pharmacy for many years, but knew that pharmacy school wasn't the path for me, nor was nursing. My degree program was well rounded in that it allowed me to obtain business skills and knowledge, with a focus in healthcare. My degree concentration was Health Services

What is the best career advice you were given?
Love what you do and do what you love. and also find a career that allows you to always support yourself

How has your education helped prepare you for your career?
It has provided me with a good framework for how to deal and work cohesively with others in the workplace.

What motto or quote do you live by?
*It's okay to be proud of yourself at times

*nothing in life is ever perfect it's what you make of it.

What would be your advice to someone who is considering IPFW or a current student?
IPFW has made leaps and bounds from the Unversity it was when I enrolled first enrolled 12 years ago. The vision of the leaders for IPFW, is clear, they want to provider a 1st class college experience, that prepares students for the real world ahead in the workplace, and personally upon graduation. Also, Fort Wayne is great city to live, work and play so why not your education here too?!

If you could describe your experience at IPFW in 3 words, what would they be?
MY FAVORITE PLACE

If you could go back and change one thing from your college experience, what would it be?
Better researched and understood the monetary cost of college. Have your plan responsible realistic plan of paying for it in place before going to college.

Where would you like to be in 10 years?
Right here in Fort Wayne with a job that I am truly passionate about, that allows me to positively impact those around me.

How would you want your fellow alumni and community members to remember you?
As someone who is dependable and takes pride in her work.

What are your hopes for our future?
To further encourage potential students both young and old that it is never too late to make the most of your education, and for IPFW to continue to have a strong presence in Fort Wayne, because let's be honest this city LOVES YOU IPFW!!!
