Planned Giving

Join the Oscar and Ophelia Weitzman Legacy Society

Oscar and Ophelia Weitzman believed in “providing opportunities for scholarship recipients that they may not have otherwise experienced or afforded. They believed wholeheartedly in the value of education and making the community stronger."— Marie Frey

Legacy gifts represent sustainability for key academic and research programs as well as scholarship funds to help attract and retain students. These gifts provide benefits to future generations of IPFW students—and to you and your heirs. If you choose to list IPFW as a benefactor in your will or estate plan, you will be eligible to be a member of the Oscar and Ophelia Weitzman Legacy Society.

The Weitzman Legacy Society offers the opportunity to connect with and properly thank donors during their lifetime—donors whose gifts may otherwise go unrecognized until the time of their passing. Our goal is to ensure that your legacy and wishes are remembered and honored, now and in the decades to come.

If you prefer, you may also become a member of the Weitzman Legacy Society while remaining anonymous. Only a statement of intent to leave a gift to IPFW is required. No documentation or gift amount or type is necessary.

Types of Planned Giving

IPFW, through collaboration with Purdue University’s planned giving specialists, is available to work alongside each person—family members, tax advisors, and others—to help make informed decisions about the right type of planned gift for you. These types include:

  • Estates
  • Bequest in a will or living trust
  • Gifts of life insurance
  • Charitable gift annuities
  • Charitable remainder trusts
  • Beneficiary designation of individual retirement accounts (IRA)
  • Other opportunities (based on federal regulations)
