- Alleviate the financial barriers to students from low socioeconomic backgrounds
- Enhance partnerships with area community schools and businesses
- Design academic programs especially for you
Summer Bridge can Give You Tools For Success
Proper Study Environment
A key component of the program is the residential experience. For many, a residential experience is the only way to ensure a quiet, orderly environment with uninterrupted time to study. It also affords an opportunity for students to learn to study together, help each other and discuss ideas. This experience helps develop time management and study skills, both of which are essential elements to succeeding in college.
Tutoring
We provide each student free tutoring on a daily basis and "mandatory study sessions." Our tutors have been through these classes before and have the knowledge necessary to assist our Summer Bridge students in achieving the best grades possible.
Jump Start on College
Students successfully completing this program (a grade of C or better in both classes) get their college career off to a great start with 6 college credits. These students are expected to register for classes in the Fall semester. We will provide academic advising throughout the summer session to help each student pepare for registration for the Fall semester and make good choices for their classes.
Academic Student Achievement Program (ASAP!)
After the students have successfully completed the Summer Bridge program and begin their academic career here at IPFW, we don't just turn them loose without guidance. We continually monitor their progress through the ASAP! program. This program involves the student, instructors and academic advisor in the student's progress.
