Crozier said Victim Assistance currently has nine advocates working, and will get another soon. Advocates have degrees in social work or criminal justice and are trained to respond to all types of grief and traumatic situations the FWPD, the Allen County Sheriff's Department, the New Haven Police Department and IPFW and Parkview Police may have.

IPFW is reporting the highest number of student admissions in the past five years for the 2016 fall semester. The university admitted 4,516 students which is the highest number since 2012.
