FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Nearly $40,000 in Tapestry Parkview Health Sciences Scholarships were awarded to six Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) students today (April 25, 2014) at the annual event Tapestry: A Day for You at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The scholarship winners were announced during the luncheon program. The day began with the breakfast presentation, “From Heartland to Hollywood,” by Fort Wayne native Courtney Leigh Heins. The Snider High School graduate, who is now a singer-songwriter, described her life and the changes she’s undergone since leaving home to pursue a career in music. Patsy Dumas, this year’s recipient of the Tapestry Dedication Award, was also introduced at the morning session.
1,365 registered guests enjoyed a morning filled with a series of workshops on wealth management, caregiving, women’s health issues, salsa dancing, fashion trends, and how to pair the right wines and cheeses for appetizers. Following a luncheon, keynote speaker Marilu Henner talked about the nine books she’s written on health, parenting, memory, and lifestyle improvement. She also discussed her life as an actress, wife, and mother.
Throughout the day, guests were able to browse and shop at 145 booths operated by sponsors and boutiques.
Between registered guests, booth personnel, and other volunteers, total attendance is expected to top 1,700.
