Life and Times of MLK Celebrated at Upcoming Event at IPFW

FORT WAYNE, Ind.— Join Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) for an event to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the Walb International Ballroom.

This will feature a spoken word tribute commemorating the life and legacy of King. MLK 2014 presents poets:

  • Ketu Oladuwa, executive director of Three Rivers Institute for Afrikan Art and Culture
  • Michael Patterson
  • Condra Ridley, storyteller, portraying Coretta Scott King
  • E. Anne Henning Byfield, author of "The Essence of My Existence", Spoken-Word Artist
  • Brandon "XplicitPoet" Thornton, educator and Spoken-Word Artist

The show is from 7- 9 p.m. There will be a reception immediately to follow. Members of the community are welcome to enjoy because this event is free and open to the public.
