FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Tapestry—A Day for You 2013 will feature Academy Award-winning actress Sissy Spacek as the luncheon keynote speaker; Biggest Loser, Season 11 alums Marci and Courtney Crozier as the morning speakers; more than a dozen different breakout sessions; and the introduction of Pat Parker as the 2013 Dedication Award recipient. Parker was introduced at a news conference this morning (Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013), by Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne’s (IPFW’s) Executive Director of Development Linda Ruffolo.

In introducing Parker, Ruffolo said she personifies the definition of the Dedication Award. “She is a female role model whose positive activities and attitude have encompassed all aspects of her life.” Ruffolo added Pat “has been the best volunteer: dependable, informed, and eager to take on whatever was needed to promote health and well-being in this community. She is a dedicated friend. She always remembers friends’ birthdays and anniversaries of all her family members. Pat enjoys planning family get-togethers with her and her husband Mac’s three daughters and their families, which is no small task as the girls live in Oregon, Colorado, and California.”

Ruffolo concluded, “Added to all of these qualities is the fact that Pat is fun. No matter what you are doing with Pat, it is fun. This quality permeates all of her activities, be it fund raising, sitting on a board, making scholarship decisions, or visiting friends. It is one of the important defining qualities making Pat Parker so unique.”

Kathleen Jackson, Tapestry project manager, announced that since its beginning Tapestry has raised more than $536,000, 37 students have received scholarships, and up to $40,000 in scholarships will be awarded this year.

Jackson also described some of the breakout sessions and introduced IPFW Chancellor Vicky Carwein and Sue Ehinger, chief operating officer of Parkview Hospital, who made remarks. Jackson noted Parkview has been instrumental in the success of Tapestry as its founding sponsor.

Online registration for Tapestry—A Day for You begins Friday, February 22.
