“Shawna is a proud alumna and will bring proven leadership experience from her time both at Lincoln Financial and at IPFW,” said Angie Fincannon, vice chancellor for advancement. “I look forward to Shawna’s contributions as the first alumni director of the Mastodon Alumni Association.”

“I am extremely excited and looking forward to developing relationships with all of the Mastodons who came before me, those who came after, and those who are still to come,” said Squibb. “This city and region are blessed to have a public university of such high caliber. Everywhere I go, I meet people who have attended, graduated, taught, or worked here. I have true hope for the future because this organization is made up of people who care deeply about the success of the students and the difference Mastodons make in their communities and around the world.”

As the director of alumni relations, Squibb will be responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the university's alumni program in partnership with the alumni association and advancement team. She will begin her new duties August 18.

Jean Hershberger has been a part of the Fort Wayne business community for more than 25 years, having spent most her career in the realty and banking sectors. The past five years she served as vice president of business banking and senior director at Centier Bank. She was previously assistant vice president of business banking at Grabill Bank.

Hershberger is a community leader, having served as a member of the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo MaskZoorade fundraising committee, the Parkview Foundation Golf Classic Committee, and the marketing director and board member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association Chapter in Fort Wayne. She is a past board member of East Wayne Street Center and Community Action of Northeast Indiana. She has also served as chairperson of the Lincoln National Employee Gift Committee and a member of the Lincoln National Employee Event Committee.

“We are excited to have Jean join our development team,” said Fincannon. “She has a love for this community and has done an outstanding job in the banking industry, particularly at the senior administrative level. I have every confidence that she will enhance the university's advancement and outreach efforts.”

“I am delighted to join the university's advancement team,” said Hershberger. “I am excited about the momentum that I’ve seen so readily as an alum and a community supporter, and I look forward to helping drive our goal of involving our constituents in life on campus.”

As the director of development, Hershberger's primary objectives will be to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors. Her first day will be August 15.
