Award-Winning Journalist Ann Curry Headlines 2017 Tapestry: A Day for You

FORT WAYNE,Ind.—A total of $61,500 in Tapestry Parkview Health Sciences Scholarships were awarded to 12 Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) students today at the 2017 Tapestry: A Day for You event at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The scholarship winners were announced during the luncheon program and include:

  • Ayasmimea Bada, senior, nursing
  • Sadia Baig, sophomore, medical imaging
  • Breanna Fensler, junior, dental hygiene
  • Brittany Fensler, junior, dental hygiene
  • Amanda Rose Follrod, graduate student, M.S. in nursing
  • Vanessa Godfrey, sophomore, medical imaging
  • Paige Renee Keplinger, sophomore, medical imaging
  • Kimberly Million, graduate student, M.S. in nursing
  • Ruby Dezaldo Valdes, senior, nursing
  • Marissa Clair Walkup, sophomore, ;dental hygiene
  • Stephanie Wells, junior, human services
  • Hannah Whitacre, junior, dental hygiene

In addition to the scholarship presentation, more than 1,600 registered guests enjoyed a morning filled with breakout sessions presenting on topics such as personal success, beauty and fashion, interior design, caregiving, women’s health issues, and how to pair the right wines with great food. Throughout the day, guests were able to browse and shop at 162 booths operated by sponsors and boutiques. Following the lunch program, NBC News anchor and international correspondent Ann Curry offered the keynote address to share her story of fighting her way to the top, not taking any lesson for granted, and how her passion to share someone else’s truth with the world comes from a deep understanding of the importance of service and continues to be the driving force of her work on and off camera.

Between registered guests, booth personnel, and other volunteers, total attendance was expected to top 2,000.

The mission of Tapestry: A Day for You is to make the day one of inspiration, renewal, and education for women in all stages of life while also raising funds for scholarships at IPFW.
