FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Stanley W. Davis, professor and interim associate dean in the Richard T. Doermer School of Business at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), has been named interim vice chancellor for financial affairs, effective August 1, 2013.
Walt Branson, vice chancellor for financial affairs, will leave IPFW this summer to assume a new position as vice chancellor for finance and administration at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
“Stan’s background in finance and accounting and his broad experience in a number of leadership positions at IPFW make him a knowledgeable resource for our university,” said Chancellor Vicky L. Carwein. “His talent and expertise will serve us well through this transition period.”
Stanley Davis received a Ph.D. in accounting from Penn State University in 1984. He joined the faculty of the Doermer School of Business in 2000. His prior faculty positions were at University of Maryland, Queen's University, Canada, and Saint Joseph's University, Philadelphia.
Davis’ background includes managerial accounting with an emphasis in group work, self-directed learning, problem solving, and critical thinking. He is a member of the American Accounting Association, FACET, and the Indiana Association of CPAs. His research has been published in various accounting journals.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Walt as a faculty leader for the last 10 years and have found him to be reasonable, direct, ethical, and a good steward of IPFW’s finances,” said Davis. “We will truly miss his financial knowledge and leadership in both the short term and long term strategic planning. It is indeed a privilege to be selected to serve the school as the interim vice chancellor for financial affairs.”
A search committee will be formed to select a new vice chancellor for financial affairs.
