IPFW Day at Science Central: Free Admission and Hands-On Demonstrations

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is bringing more science to Science Central on Saturday, February 18. More than 40 students and faculty members will be available to give hands-on demonstrations and share research with those in attendance. The program will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Science Central, located at 1950 North Clinton Street. There is no cost for admission.

IPFW Sponsorship Day is a partnership between Science Central and the university's Institute for Research, Scholarship, and Creative Endeavors (IRSC). One of the goals of the IRSC is to expand community understanding and appreciation of the work being done both by university faculty and their students.

"IPFW Sponsorship Day at Science Central provides an opportunity for our university faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students to partner with Science Central and our community in showcasing our research," said Connie Kracher, director of the IRSC. "Through these unique one-on-one experiences, our professors share their knowledge, experience, and expertise in their field of study with community members of all ages. We invite you to join us for a day of fun at Science Central!"

Faculty and student research has been funded by some of the nation’s most prestigious funding organizations including the National Science Foundation, United States Department of Agriculture, The Fulbright Program, National Institutes of Health, NASA, The Mellon Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as other national and international organizations. The results of some of these projects will be on display at Science Central during the event.

Other activities will include face painting and Mastodon balloon animals by TAG Art and there will be coloring pages and IPFW logo crayons for the children to enjoy.
