FORT WAYNE, Ind.—In 2008, Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) became the first Summit League school to hold a Pink Out event in support of breast cancer research and awareness programs. Since that first event, thousands of dollars have been raised for research and awareness and scores of breast cancer survivors have been recognized for winning their battles against the disease.
At a news conference next Wednesday, January 30, at 10:30 a.m. in Kettler Hall, Room 154, details of the 6th Annual Pink Out will be released. Featured speakers at the news conference will include IPFW Chancellor Vicky Carwein, IPFW Athletics Director Tommy Bell, and Executive Director of the Vera Bradley Foundation, Catherine Hill.
Breast cancer survivors are invited to attend the Pink Out luncheon and basketball game free of charge; tickets for all others will be $20. Details on how to sign up for the event will be released at the news conference.
Members of the media are encouraged to cover the news conference so details about Pink Out and how to sign up for it can reach as many breast cancer survivors as possible.
