FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will commemorate Veterans Day Monday, November 12, with the 3rd Annual Flag Ceremony. This year’s event will be held at noon in the Walb Student Union Ballroom and will feature a keynote address from Associate Professor of English and Linguistics Stevens R. Amidon, who retired as a Chief Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy after serving 20 years.
Amidon said his remarks, “Citizen/Soldier: Not an Oxymoron!” will touch on “…the uniqueness of the American military, how people from such disparate backgrounds, from every ethnic group, religion, and economic class, come together and serve in what we call the ‘uniformed services.’”
The IPFW Cadet Corp will present the colors and additional remarks will be made by Jo Vaughan, coordinator of the Office of Military Student Services.
The Veterans Day program and flag ceremony are free and open to the public.
