IPFW Holds Military Student Services Book Launch: Healing Words

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne’s (IPFW) Military Student Services chapter of The Ladder Upp™ is holding a book launch Tuesday, November 7, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Room 112 of the Helmke Library.

The book, Healing Words: A Journey Through the Ladder UPP™, is an anthology of works created by students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Authors are veterans of the Korean War, Desert Storm, Iraq, and other eras of service, along with civilians. The stories are in various formats including short essays, short stories, poetry, and personal letters. The authors' contributions are original works based on exercises from The Ladder Upp workbook by Silouan Green, a Marine pilot veteran.

“This book is truly about healing,” said Jo Vaughan, director of military student services. “It offers an outlet for the people sharing their stories of surviving traumatic events, and it also allows the reader to realize they aren’t alone and hopefully help in their healing process.”

The public book launch event will feature five of the contributing authors, a book signing, and a reception with light refreshments. Ladder Upp founder Silouan Green will also be in attendance.

The book will be available for a $14.95 cash or credit purchase. The book is also available in a print and Kindle Edition on Amazon.

Founded by veteran and author Silouan Green, the IPFW Office of Military Student Services proudly hosts a chapter of The Ladder Upp, a social writing group that focuses on using creative writing to help combat the struggles of life, from everyday problems to PTSD, by using the official The Ladder Upp workbook.
