International Education Week Celebrated at IPFW

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Lectures, movies, and games will highlight the activities of the 2011 International Education Week at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) November 14 to 18. International Education week is an opportunity to celebrate and encourage the exchange of international cultural ideas and people, whether in the form of study abroad programs or receiving international students.

The concept of International Education week is a joint effort between the U. S. Department of Education and the U. S. Department of State to prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in America. The public is welcome to attend any of the free events organized during the week. The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, November 14 at noon: T'ai Chi Chuan, Fireside Lounge, Student Housing
  • Monday, November 14 at 6 p.m.: English Conversation Game Night, Kettler Hall, Room 101
  • Tuesday, November 15 at noon: "Terrorism and U. S. Foreign Policy, presented by Professor of Political Science James Lutz, Walb Union, Room 114
  • Wednesday, November 16 at noon: "Tales from Abroad" featuring a free luncheon, Kettler Hall, Room 227
  • Wednesday, November 16 at 3 p.m.: "Tea Time" featuring the IPFW Model United Nations team, Walb Union, Room 121
  • Thursday, November 17 at noon: Study Abroad information session, Walb Union, Room 116
  • Thursday, November 17 at 6 p.m.: "The Beat of Africa" featuring the Three Rivers Jenbe Ensemble, Walb Union Ballroom
  • Friday, November 18 at 5 p.m.: International Movie Night, Fireside Lounge, Student Housing
