FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Student research will be highlighted at an upcoming symposium on the Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) campus.

The 2014 Student Research and Creative Endeavor Symposium will take place Friday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Walb bridge linking Walb Student Union and the Helmke Library.

Over 100 undergraduate and graduate students—more than any previous symposium-- from Anthropology to Women’s Studies will present their research in a public forum with prizes awarded for excellence.

J. Albayyari, associate vice chancellor for research, engagement, and sponsored programs, said: "The opportunity for students to experience scholarly exploration and discovery first-hand through research, and to engage in research with faculty from all the university’s schools and colleges, is one of the many benefits of an IPFW education. This symposium is one important part of the research process as students present their work to faculty and student peers."

Participating students will also receive inclusion in Opus, a research website at IPFW that allows students the opportunity to house their research and use for résumés and applications.

Student posters will be entered into Opus, IPFW’s open access online research repository, which provides national and international exposure for their academic work.

An awards ceremony recognizing the best student research will take place on Friday, March 28 at 2:45 p.m. in the IPFW Learning Commons, 2nd floor Helmke Library.
