Tickets Available for Wes Moore Omnibus Lecture at IPFW

FORT WAYNE,Ind.—Tickets are now available for the third lecture of the 2017–18 Omnibus Lecture Series season, featuring Wes Moore, who will present his lecture titled "From Troubled Teen to Rhodes Scholar: The Transformative Power of Education." The lecture will take place Wednesday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Auer Performance Hall, located in the Rhinehart Music Center on campus.

Acclaimed author and CEO Wes Moore has a remarkable story of overcoming adversity through education, embracing personal responsibility, and emerging as an inspirational leader.

From wayward inner-city youth to decorated veteran, Rhodes Scholar, White House Fellow, and business leader, he is the subject of a major motion picture, The Other Wes Moore, from executive producer Oprah Winfrey. Based on his New York Times bestseller, it tells the story of how education, parental influence, mentors, and community support helped him transcend the unfortunate fate of a man with the same name who lived just blocks away.

The lecture is free to attend, but tickets are required. Tickets can be picked up in person Monday–Friday from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Larson Ticket Office, located inside the Athletics Center on campus. Tickets are also available online through the IPFW Box Office website. A $1 service fee will be charged per ticket for online orders.

Moore’s lecture is one event the university will host to celebrate Black History Month.

The English-Bonter-Mitchell Foundation has been the Omnibus Lecture Series sponsor since 1995. Media sponsors for the 2017–18 series are WANE TV NewsChannel 15, Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly, and 89.1 WBOI News and Diverse Music.
