Key Info

  • Tony Jasick named new IPFW Men’s Basketball Head Coach
  • Effective immediately
  • Replaces Dane Fife who becomes assistant coach at Michigan State

Fort Wayne, Ind.—IPFW Director of Athletics Tommy Bell today announced the hiring of Tony Jasick as the new men's basketball coach at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). Jasick was a member of former head coach Dane Fife's staff for the past six years and served as associate head coach for the past four years. Jasick was an integral part of a coaching staff that posted a record of 18-12 in 2010–11, the best record IPFW has had in their short Division I school history.

"I can't explain how excited and appreciative my family and I are for the opportunity that has been given to me by Chancellor Wartell and Tommy Bell to lead this program forward," said Jasick at a news conference this afternoon (Wednesday, April 20). "It's a great time to be a part of IPFW basketball. We've been able to continually grow the program over the last six years due, in large part, to the quality student-athletes that have worn the Blue and White. I believe strongly that the current players in the program, along with the incoming signees can continue the upward trend here."

"When this roller coaster ride started a few weeks ago, we knew we didn't have to go far to find our new head coach," Bell stated. "It was clear that our basketball program was not broken and it did not need to be fixed. Having been in charge of all aspects of the men's basketball program, it was clear that Tony was the perfect choice for the job. With his experience, drive and enthusiasm, we are confident Tony will be successful as our new head men's basketball coach."

Before coming to IPFW, Jasick was a member of the coaching staffs at Middle Tennessee State University, Newbury College, and the University of North Alabama.

Coach Jasick received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Education from Mars Hill College in 2000 and a Masters in Education from Lincoln Memorial University in 2002. Tony and his wife Melissa are proud parents of daughters Rohen Marie and Reece Brandt and reside in Fort Wayne.
