FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Multitalented Emmy Award-winning comedic television star, recording artist, theater performer, and author Vicki Lawrence will be the keynote speaker for the 2016 Tapestry: A Day for You event presented by Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) and Parkview Health. The 15th annual Tapestry event will be held April 29, 2016, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Tickets are $75 for open seating and $800 for a reserved table of ten.

Winning her local fire department’s Miss Fireball Contest led Lawrence to The Carol Burnett Show. The rest is television history. She appeared in her own series, Mama’s Family, and has most recently been seen in Hannah Montana. She received a gold record for “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” and appeared in numerous theatre productions including Carousel and Send Me No Flowers.

An avid women’s rights activist, Lawrence now travels widely speaking about her life and career. She is well known for her sense of humor and reminds us “life is too serious to be taken seriously!” Lawrence works with the Humane Society and has been very involved with the American Heart Association and their “Go Red for Women” campaign. She published an autobiography, Vicki!: The True Life Adventures of Miss Fireball.

Registration for Tapestry: A Day for You opens February 26. Sponsorships for breakout sessions and booths are still available. For more information, visit the Tapestry website.
