FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Lectures, a panel discussion, an information fair featuring free food, a dance, and a drag show are all planned for April 14 to 19 as Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) celebrates LGBTQ+ Week.

Cailynn Smith, coordinator of The Resource Center at IPFW, said one of the highlights of the week is the Tuesday, April 15 lecture presented by Ash Beckham, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Neff Hall, Room 101. "We are very pleased and proud to present Ash Beckham and her message, 'Give Voice to Your Truth.' Beckham's discussions about coming out and her speech, 'I am SO GAY,' have been seen by thousands on line. Her presentation blends urgency and humor and takes on topics such as the difference between acceptance and tolerance, how to be your authentic self, and how to get real." The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.

Another event that is free and open to the public is the All-Ages Drag Show, Saturday, April 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Walb Student Union International Ballroom.

The following events are open to IPFW students, faculty, and staff, but not to the general public:

Monday, April 14: "Female Masculinity," a lecture by J. Basiliere of the IPFW Women's Studies Program. The lecture includes a screening of the documentary film The Aggressives. This event begins at 6 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Building, Room 35-A.

Wednesday, April 16: Bisexuality Erasure Panel Discussion, noon to 1:15 p.m. in Walb Student Union, Room 114.

Thursday, April 17: Equality Dance with DJ Tabatha, 8 to 11 p.m., Walb Student Union Classic Ballroom. Admission is one canned food item, with all donated items going to the local AIDS Task Force food pantry.
