Bombs That Changed the World: IPFW Hosts Lecture on Post WWII Effects

(Fort Wayne, October 22, 2009) -- Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will host “Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Bombs that Changed the World” with Richard Ball, Ph.D., professor of sociology emeritus at Ferris State University. He will speak Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in the Classroom-Medical Building, Room 35A. It is free and open to the public.

Ball will talk about the effects of the atomic bombings and World War II. Although it has been 64 years since the end of the war, many people still suffer from the after-effects. He will present an opportunity to examine the past war through the experiences of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.

The lecture is cosponsored by the IPFW College of Arts and Sciences and the departments of anthropology, history, sociology, and the international studies program.

For more information, contact Mieko Yamada, assistant professor of sociology, at 260-481-0147 or yamadam@ipfw.edu.
