"Pictures of Things That Aren’t There" at IPFW
(Fort Wayne, October 19, 2009) -- Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne’s (IPFW) first communication honor society, Lambda Pi Eta, Psi Omega Chapter, will host a film presentation and discussion featuring Mary Daniel’s Pictures of Things That Aren’t There. The event will take place Friday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. in Neff Hall, Room 101. It is free and open to the public.
After the film, Daniel will discuss her approach to making the film and answer questions. Pictures of Things That Aren't There is an anthology of six works loosely tied together by the circumstance of their making: all were initiated while Daniel was caring for her mother as she lived out her life with Alzheimer’s disease. Each piece is a stand-alone work in its own right, and together they form a constellation of poignant meditations on the relationship between the creative imagination and our sense of self, of longing, and of loss. Daniel is a media artist and educator with an M.F.A. in film and video and several years experience teaching film and video production to artists, including at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and the University of British Columbia-Okanagan.
Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA). IPFW’s Psi Omega Chapter of LPH was founded in 2009.
