IPFW Chancellor Receives Leadership Award

(Fort Wayne, October 19, 2009) -- Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Chancellor Michael A. Wartell is the recipient of the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Award. Wartell was presented the award by John Frederick, District 11 governor, at the group’s Fall Convention in Fort Wayne earlier this month. District 11 is comprised of nearly 3,000 members of Toastmasters International clubs all across Indiana and northern Kentucky.

Marlene Prudy, governor of Division B, which includes the 16 clubs in Fort Wayne and Kendallville, said, “Chancellor Wartell was our first and only choice for this award. He feels IPFW is the community and the community is IPFW. He is very involved in making the community feel a part of the university,” she said.

Toastmasters International has a membership of nearly 250,000 men and women worldwide, with more than 12,500 clubs in 106 countries.
