IPFW Academic Advisor Elected to Leadership Role in National Organization
(Fort Wayne, April 8, 2009) -- Alison Hoff, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) academic advisor, has been elected chair of the Member Career Services Committee of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). Hoff will serve as chair from October 2009 to October 2011.
Hoff has been a member of NACADA since 1998. In her new leadership position, she will be responsible for chairing the standing committee that helps facilitate career-related services and recommends effective methods for career development for NACADA members.
“I look forward to continuing my work with academic advisors concerning their paths and job search activities,” said Hoff. “Academic advising at the national level is an exciting place to be these days. The field is becoming recognized as a professional, researched-based field with many new and expanding career opportunities for higher education professionals.”
NACADA promotes and supports quality academic advising in institutions of higher education to enhance the educational development of students. It provides a forum for discussion, debate, and the exchange of ideas pertaining to academic advising through numerous activities and publications. NACADA also serves as an advocate for effective academic advising by providing a consultants bureau, awards program, and funding for research related to academic advising.
