CSI: IPFW - Forensic Science and Summer Fun

(Fort Wayne, May 6, 2008) -- Move over New York, Miami, and Las Vegas - "CSI: IPFW" has made its way to Fort Wayne. Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will offer its annual Summer Youth Program: Life After High School with a focus on forensic science to area high school students. The program provides a fun summer activity, guidance on opportunities after high school, and an introduction to college life.

"CSI: IPFW" will run July 7 through Aug. 1, Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free program is open to 30 high school students; deadline for application is June 13. To apply, contact Christopher Riley at 260-481-6847 or rileyc@ipfw.edu. A completed registration form and a 250-word essay on "What do I expect to gain from Summer Youth 2008" are required to apply.

Participants will take field trips, examine the high school-to-college transition, prepare for ISTEP and SATs, learn from members of law enforcement, work in teams to solve mock crime mysteries, and more.

Priority for registration will be given to those who participate in free or reduced-price lunch programs. The free program includes materials, Citilink transportation (if necessary), lunch, and a t-shirt and is sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs.

For more information or to register, contact Riley at 260-481-6847 or rileyc@ipfw.edu.
